“Altered Mini Albums!”

I haven’t been around for a while and I apologise! ๐Ÿ™‚ I am having a little break from scraping as I just can’t get motivated!ย  I am have issues with mum and dad’s care and I am a bit stressed!!ย  I also have 3 SU Workshops in May which will keep me busy also! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was invited to join Mary Bennett’s About ME Group over at The Boxx and I think it came at the right time!ย  I need a project to think about it and this is going to be fun!!ย  I am starting an About Me album so my kids can look back onย  in years to come and not wonder what mum was up to or what she liked/ disliked etc! Not that they don’t know me of course! lol!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I created one of these about 6 or 7 years ago and a lot has happened since then and changed in my life!

As you know I love making Mini Albums and instead of doing layouts I am altering some plain old Manila Folders and creating my album from these! I was making it from a tutorial on You Tube but it isn’t what I wanted so I have made my own design and I will keep you updated with its progress!!

I wanted to share with you this Paper Bag Album I have been working on for JJ. I have a lot of photos we have taken from car shows and I thought this would be great to keep them in and we can add to it!!

I used some brown paper lunch bags and stuck them together to create pockets! I bound them with some card-stock over the spine!

You can see I have covered the paper bags with pattern papers from my stash and you can see the pockets which I can use for extra photos, journaling or memorabilia! It is starting to look very cool and JJ loves it!!

Below is the start of my Altered About Me Album!ย  I cut the folders down to 81/2 x 10″ and with the scraps I made some extra pages, flaps and tags!

Sometime this afternoon I will start my front cover, still working out how I want to do it! Pattern paper, ink, paint, etc!

Some Swaps, Sweets, Candles And A Layout!!

Hi everyone, been a smidge busy this last week or so and have neglected you all! So sorry! ๐Ÿ™‚

In between getting organised for a workshop for this week, Cody’s 20th Birthday and everything else I have managed a bit of craft!!

I have a workshop on Wednesday so I made some Party Favours for the lovely hostess and her guests and also some stamped candles for door Prizes and a Thank-you from me.

I stamped the For You Flower and made these little treats for my Hostess and her guests!

I thought I would have a go at Stamping on candles and made these for Judy my hostess and 3 smaller ones for door prizes! I will be doing a tutorial for these later in the week!

The girls want to learn how to water -colour stamped images so this is the example layout I created for them to use a s inspiration for the workshop! All the embellies are stamped and coloured and the girls will get to use some of the new and very gorgeous Attic Boutique DSP that is out in the new Autumn Mini!!

Somewhere in the middle of all this I was inspired to use Sketch #5 of my 28 Days of Sketches to create this layout of dad on his 97th Birthday!

And finally, these cute little critters I made for our Monthly Swap group over at Home and Scrapped!!! All SU; chipboard owls that I covered with DSP, punch art owls in the middle and little stamped and coloured birds!! Hope they like them!! ๐Ÿ™‚

“28 Days-Sketch #4!”

I am loving this class and the sketches are wonderful. You can make them plain or jazz them upย  bit!ย  This is my version of #4 which was a double 8.5×11 layout and I made it a 12×12 as I had a few bigger photos to use!

I don’t usually scrap these colors but I do have a few purple shirts in these photos! I used some older Kaiser papers and some flowers to match, which I was lucky enough to get from Sarah in a flower swap! I also included an April challenge from Challenge Heaven on it also! Kim’s chall was to use a transparency. I cut up some clear packaging and used that, then I stamped the clock in Black Stazon! it gives you a clear element to your pages!!

These pics are just of things that I do to relax and unwind! You need some down- time “Renew” your body and soul!! Being so busy and a mum we all need it!!

I love scrapping of course, having a coffee out for a change, walking, blog hoping, crochet or sewing, going to a market and my garden!!

What do you do for your ‘me time’?

“Ribbon Challenge!”

Over at Home and Scrapped there is a challenge for April created by the lovely Jewels to use some of your ribbon stash! Mine is over flowing like everyone elses, so I thought I would have a go!!ย  A couple of things you have to do is use a white card-stock base, create a ribbon background and use a pic of yourself and journal a little about what you are up to now!!! Got my thinking cap on and this is what I came up with!!

I had heaps of little bits of ribbons tied to my metal dress form that I store them on and this gave me the idea to tie the bits and create a background!

It took me a while but I am happy with the result . I just added a few scraps around the edge, a recent photo of me and a few bits of info about me!

I titled it “TODAY” and journaled……..

– I love my scraping

– JJ has me hooked on iced coffee

– I am enjoying my walking with my friend

– It is great spending time with my boys!!

Hop on over and have a go at the great challenges the DT have come up with for April!!

“28 Days – Sketch 3!”

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย  Sketch #3 is very basic but you can alter it to suit your photos!

I found this photo of Cody and JJ spending time together and thought this sketch was ideal for it! Very minimalistic for me , but I enjoyed creating this layout about their relationship and how they hang out together!

” 28 Days – Sketch 1 & 2!”

I have startedย  my 28 Days of Sketches class and have done two layouts today! They came together very quickly for me which is a change! They were great to work with and I am very happy with the class so far!!

We are up to Day 6 , but this is a work at your own pace class so no pressure!!

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  This is the 12×12 sketch using a few photos across the page!

This is my take on the sketch using some grungy Kaiser pp and some other SU scraps. very simple and great to get some photos on a page!!

These pics I too of the boys in 2008 on one of the rare days that they wanted to go to the park! Getting older and not as interested! They had a great time down there though!! lol!!

This sketch is great for colour blocking! Very linear and was great to do a 8.5×11 size layout!!

Some photos of Cody helping me in the garden last June, pruning the roses!! He did a great job!! It was nice Winters day!! I used SU papers and some of Heather’s gorgeous flowers she sent me!

“A Bit Of A Scrap!”

I went over to Heather’s Sketch blog for a peek yesterday and found this lovely sketch of hers over there!

I used it to create this layout for mum, Cody and Crystal when they were only 6-12 months old!! They are nearly 20 now! Where has that time gone. They are wonderful young adults!

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  I used all SU except the couple of Twiddleybitz flourishes!

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  I only had a few scraps left over from making the flowers and bits etc so I made this small 4×4 Than you note card!

“Big Top Birthday Cards!”

I felt like making some cards for a challenge over at Challenge Heaven on Sunday! I haven’t made any for a while and I also made a couple of examples for my DT challenge that I will show you later on in the week!

The theme for our Cyber Crop is” Party” so with that in mind I created these cute Birthday Cards with the Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper from SU. It is colourful and happy, great for kids pages and cards! The stamp set that matches the DSP is Under The Big Top on pg 33 of the 2011/12 Catalogue.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  I love my Pennant Banner Punch! Makes it so easy to create cute Banners!!

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  A bit of stamping and some strips of pp! Too easy!

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  An embossed background and some banners!

For this one I stamped the Pennant Parade Stamps which are on pg 37 of the Catalogue. they match the punch and I turned them upside down to make party hats!!

“Gardening Inspiration”

I certainly needed some gardening inspiration and Pam and I got bucket loads of it yesterday when we ventured to the big city for the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show!!

My garden is in dire need of weeding and tidying up and I am going to get it done this week as I am so sick of seeing the mess!!! I have half the garden I had and I still have trouble keeping up with it!! I do like to get out and play in he dirt for a change!! LOL!!!

There was so much to see and do and these few pics are just a snippet of what I took and what I want to scrap to remember!! Sorry this post is a bit photo heavy!!!!

We had such a good day and came home with many ideas. Now to put them into action! hehehe!!
