“Happy October!”

Isn’t the year zooming by, I am trying not to think about Xmas but I have a Xmas card class and a scrap class coming up very soon!! πŸ™‚

I am being a night owl tonite and catching up on my blog and posting my new DT challenge early!Β  We went around and saw mum and dad as my boys were wanting to see Gran and Pa and I got busy and made some cup cakes for avo tea. They did go down well.Β  I also had time this afternoon catching up with my friend after I dropped the boys home! Cody had yesterday off work so we had a movie night and caught up with a couple of movies we all wanted to see!!

I can now reveal my DT challenge for Home and scrapped for October which is also Stop 2 – Asia of The Amazing Race that I have been wanting to share with you! πŸ™‚

For my Asia stop I chose Russia and the Criteria for this layout was to use a Large Title, something horizontal and something found in a park or garden! The challenges for the race are so much fun and stay tuned for the 2nd Detour on our way! πŸ™‚

I thought the chevron craze is really big at the moment and thought it would be a great challenge for the girls this month at Home and Scraped! So if you would like to have a go at my challenge and be in the draw for a RAK from me hop on over and join in the fun! πŸ™‚ I am really enjoyed my time as a DT with Josie and Vicki and I thank Heather for having me! πŸ™‚ One more month to go!! πŸ™‚

“LOAD Challenge 2012!!!”

If you were like me when I first saw this acronym I thought “WHAT THE!” I was sent an email from the girls at http://letsscrap.ning.com/ about asking me to join in this challenge which isΒ  “A LAYOUT A DAY” for the month of October!!Β  It is aΒ  great challenge to join in with some other mad scrapbookers to get some photos scraped!

I joined in with Boot Camp a couple of years ago and I got 50 photos and 30 ish layouts completed and it was so rewarding to see what I did and get them in my boys albums!!

If you would like to join in with us just become a member at the forum and you will find us here http://letsscrap.ning.com/group/load-challenge-october-2012

If you don’t do a lot of scrap-booking. card makers are welcome too!! Getting 31 cards made would be a great effort too! πŸ™‚ This is just for fun and no prizes are rewarded but getting some layouts or projects finished is still a great prize!!

Of course some of us wont get 31 layouts done but that is ok too, just do as many as you can! Life is busy and we have other stuff on our plates too! πŸ™‚

So…. get those UFO’s out, print those photos off and let’s get scrapping!! πŸ™‚

“I Luv Washi!”

As you know I do and I created this page for my BOM to document that! I used a sketch from one of Amelia who is one of the lovely girls over at The Boxx! You will find her sketch and lovely work here http://millybugsblogspot.blogspot.com.au/

This was fun to do using some washi of course! I was going to do an 8.5 x 11 size but couldn’t be bothered re printing my photos smaller so went for the 12×12. I am putting it into my BOM album!

It is so much fun to use, it is bright and makes me feel happy!

I created the hearts using it also and the bits through the tag as well! πŸ™‚

“No Fun Mum!”

That is exactly what JJ said to me one day when I wanted him to hop in a photo booth with me for some fun pics! He was not in the mood and no matter what I did he would not smile! 😦

I created this layout for Vicki’s recipe challenge for Sept over at H & S!

For this challenge you had to use something old, something new. borrowed and blue!Β To cover this criteria I used some old lace from Angie, a new bottle cap, some borrowed paint and a blue button and the heart! This was a fun challenge and October’s are going to be great from our DT over there too!

“My Busy Day!”

Afternoon everyone! The sun is shining and it is quite warm here in Victoria! The Grand Final is on Saturday and the weather is supposed to be shocking!! Yay Good scraping weather! lol!!! We were planning to go to the Victoria Market tomorrow but as the weather isn’t going to be great we will plan a day for next week so Cody can come with us!! πŸ™‚

I am not having a busy day today but did yesterday! Catching up on some housework! So much fun as you all know! I found a photo of Cody when he was about 2 and thought it was ideal for Josie’s September Challenge over at H & S!

You had to use this layout she found on Pinterest for your inspiration!!

This is a lovely layout and gorgeous colours! I think the design was a bit tricky but I came up with this! πŸ™‚

I found this photo of Cody being a busy little man. He was always into everything and as you can see getting independent! So I thought this wold be great to document “His Very Busy Day!” I think I need a bit more practice taking pics of these diff size layouts! πŸ™‚

I misted the background, punch some circles and embossed them for some texture! I just journaled about his day!

“Show & Tell!”

I had the urge to scrap last night at 10pm! lol!! I wanted to have a go at Heather’s Mid Week Sketch # 36 and my layout wouldn’t go to plan! For some reason circles sort of throw me?

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  This is Heather’s fun sketch which I converted to my smaller size. πŸ™‚

These were a couple of photos of J in Yr 5 and they had a special day for pets! Of course we had to bring Willo! she was pretty nervous and had a couple of little accidents but nothing phased JJ and the kids loved her! πŸ™‚

I used a choc- chip base for this layout and some scraps of some October Afternoon, Science Fair papers that I have loved to create this one! πŸ™‚ I just made a few pinwheels and used and cut an embellie from the pp!

“The Amazing Race – Antarctica!”

I hope you have been traveling with us on our Amazing Race Journey! πŸ™‚

You will notice I am missing Stop 3 Asia, but will have it up next week for you. I used it as my DT layout example for October so is still a secret till then. πŸ™‚ We stopped in Asia and I chose Russia as my destination! Very pleased with my layout and cant wait to share!! πŸ™‚

So for stop 4……..

As it is cold over there, our CRITERIA to include on our layout was:

1. White Space

2. Cool Colours &

3. Texture

I didn’t have any Winter pics so I used this one of my boys a few years ago at the pool! I used some mist, crumpled paper and ink! The banner is so cute and one I got from a swap and I used some ric- rac and some other bits from my stash! πŸ™‚

“Mid Week Sketch!”

Over the weekend, I got to have a bit of a scrap after I finished my Clipboards! I haven’t had a chance to do much, been pretty busy with life as you get!

This one is a 8.5 x 11 of Cody I took a couple of weeks ago with Nitro! I used Heather’s MWS #33 at Scrappy Sketches to create this one! I really enjoyed using some washi tape and boy embellies! It is on SU card stock and retired pp! πŸ™‚

I used MWS # 34 for this one of my “Foodie’ J still loves helping out in the kitchen! SU card stock and retired pp teamed with some Kaiser stamps and chippy!

Heather has some fab sketches to inspire you so hop over and have a peek! πŸ™‚

Photo Storage!

I have never been very good with organizing my photos! I have a mish mash of photos inΒ  baskest and they are not pretty! They are not in any sort of order and I decided today to get something done! I found a nice acid free photo album with pockets in it at Target yesterday and thought it wold be perfect to store them in to scrap. They aren’t really in order but the are together and in with dates and who is in them!

Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  This was my messy photo storage! In a basket and in no order! This is one of them and I am working on the other one of older pics! πŸ™‚

This album stores 300 photos! When I get them developed now I will put them in here ready to b scraped!! I hope this might give you an idea for your photo storage too!!

“Altered Clipboards!”

It is a bit wet here today and I thought I would do a bit of messy stuff. I wanted to do a bit of a revamp of my scrap space! I didn’t want to spend money and have lots of supplies on hands to use! I have had some normal wooden clipboards for a while and thought I would alter them a bit and have them hanging on my walls!

This is how I altered them….

My first job was to paint some Gesso primer around the edges where I want to paint. This make it smoother and the paint adheres better to the wood! When dry I painted with some acrylic paint.

As I then wanted to cover them with pattern paper and used up some SU Spice Cake that I had left over. As a 12×12 isn’t long enough to cover the who board, I used the waste piece for the other side for the piece on the bottom! I adhered the papers with some white pva glue that I still had.

To hide the joins I used some fabric tape and a bit of embellish on the clip itself! I then painted some white thickers black and used them as titles on the clips!

I then added my packets of alphabets, stickers masks and chip-board bits and pieces to use as I scrap! I also made one for all my notes!! πŸ™‚ I think I might do a few more to hang my layouts on as well. They certainly have spruced up my space a bit and think I will make some for customer Xmas presents also! πŸ™‚
