“Sun Loving”

I haven’t done as much scraping for our CC as I was hoping to do! It was so hot over the weekend and too sticky to sit at my desk.Β  😦  It has been a lot cooler here the last couple of days and today I wanted to have a go Liz’s CC challenge!

002-001I decided on another double page as I had some lovely photos of my roses in bloom and wanted to use them as 4×6 size. πŸ™‚ For the challenge you had to make a sun, use a two-word title and only use three flowers! πŸ™‚ I made the sun by making a washi flower and adding some ribbon at the back, my title is ‘Sun Loving’ and the three flowers are a paper rose and two resin roses on the small doily next the banner πŸ™‚ I wanted it to have summer feel to it so used white card stock misted and some embellies! I didn’t use any pp and I made a washi banner!

“Pure Joy!”

Yep, it was just that for mum and us on her 75th Birthday! After we went out for lunch and came back to mum and dads for dessert. I made a choc ripple cake and decorated it for her and put a candle on it! Of course she grumbled, but the look on her face in this photo said it all! πŸ™‚ She had a good old laugh trying to blow the candle out and it was funny!!

009-001I created this page using Heather’s sketch from our Month Of creativity Challenge 3 πŸ™‚ I wanted it to look feminine for this photo and used some retired Delicate doilies dsp behind the photo on my watercolor background that I did using glimmer mist. I had a lovely tag from Heather that she sent me from a swap last yr and I just continued some more flowers around the corner of the photo! πŸ™‚ I added some little bits of pearl, a couple of Resin birds from Lisa Kamphuis, a flower I made, and the title from Bliss Thickers πŸ™‚

009-002You can see I also added another couple of Heather’s gorgeous flowers that I had in my stash! πŸ™‚

Pop on over and become a member, you will love being @ Home! Also we have a monthly CC coming up from Friday starting with a Step by Step, then Sat a Blog Hop and a fun game of Bingo, and lots of great challenges to get you scraping over the weekend! Pop back Sat for a look at my leg on the Blog Hop!! πŸ™‚

“My Outdoor Space!”

I have been busy in my garden the last few weeks as I have been wanting to get my garden look better than it had been. As I have had no time it looked very neglected and unloved!! 😦

You can see my photos better here on my layout in my previous post

https://myscrapnaddiction.wordpress.com/2013/01/09/getting-back-to-normal/us post πŸ™‚

For a challenge over @ http://sketchesforyou.ning.com/ where I am now a member I joined their Monthly Mayhem group and this is what I came up with. You had to include 4 pp, 4 ribbons, 4 embellishments and four pics! Then I decided to do a double! lol

I also combined a challenge @ Home and scraped seeing as I did a double layout which was to mist, use some bling and a heart! πŸ™‚

homeΒ Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  I don’t usually combine challenges but this one took a me awhile πŸ™‚ I used my stash of scrap pp and bits and bobs to create this fun layout of my “Outdoor Space!” It is now great to sit out there with a book or a cuppa and enjoy my labor of love πŸ™‚

“A Month of Creativity!”

Over @ http://homeandscrapped.ning.com/ the lovely Heather has created a class for us to get us creating! Each day of Feb she posts a different challenge for us to get us motivated! πŸ™‚ I am a bit behind as my life has interrupted me this week, but managed the first task yesterday! πŸ™‚

Day one is to create a layout based on her example and have a go at some stamping! Of course this is right up my alley! πŸ™‚

006-001I used all Stampin’ Up! products for this as I had the Simply Stocking Stamp set and matching punch and hadn’t had a chance to use it yet! I stamped on a piece of Whisper White Card stock in Gumball Green, Cherry cobbler and Kiwi Kiss inks and cut it into sections, then layered on the Gumball Green cs.

I Used Cherry cobbler 12×12 as the base and used the Stocking Punch to punch the little stockings!! I wasn’t sure about this set when it first came came out, but I love it now!! πŸ™‚

Some photos of the boys and I Xmas 2012! πŸ™‚ I decided to create a double layout, using 4 photos and print them black and white as I knew the colors would be nice and bright! πŸ™‚

006-003This is a bit of a closie of the stocking banner I made and finished it off with some yummy Glimmer Brads! And the title is stamped with the Noteable alphabet!

Ok now to get on to the next challenge! πŸ™‚

“Feb Challenge & A Tutorial! “

The end of January, where did it go! Welcome February πŸ™‚

I am lucky enough this month to be a Guest Designer @ http://homeandscrapped.ning.com/Β Β  I really enjoyed my four months last yr as a DT and getting an extra month is a bonus!Β  My challenge for you is to create a layout using some decorative tape; home-made or bought πŸ™‚

As you all know by now I am a Washi Tape-aholic! I can’t get enough of the stuff! πŸ™‚ Even though the rolls of gorgeous tape are not expensive, it is always nice to be able to save a few pennies on scrap supplies! That is why I have done this tutorial for you on how to make your own ‘washi tape’ πŸ™‚

You don’t need many supplies to make some tape and you probably have them in your stash! πŸ™‚

Supplies needed!

Masking Tape

Non stick craft mat or baking paper

paint, Stazon ink, mists, stamps, mod podge

acetate sheet or a page protector for storing your tape πŸ™‚

Step 1.Β  Tear strips of tape off your roll and apply them to your clothes to make them low tack.Β  This is so the tape wont tear your paper or card-stock if you need to lift and re-apply on a layout or card. πŸ™‚ Then lay several strips of tape across your mat to use πŸ™‚

004-001

Step 2.Β Β There are a few ways I decorated the tape! a) Stamp directly onto it with Stazon as this dries quickly. b) Paint your tape with, or mist then stamp over it.Β  You will need to use a heat gun if you mist and use dye inks. c) Apply Mod Podge over strip and adhere pattern paper! d) Use Crackle paint and watch the crackle appear!Β  e) Apply glue along the strip and add some glitter. f) Stamp with a versamark pad, apply emboss powder and heat πŸ™‚Β  Just use your imagination! πŸ™‚

007-001On these pieces I stamped with Black Stazon and adhered a strip of Vintage music sheet! πŸ™‚

Step 3. Get to it and have fun creating your own tapes to match your projects and enjoy!! πŸ™‚

006-001

As you can see after the strips dried I lifted them from my craft mat and adhered them to the page protector to use on my layout! πŸ™‚ You can also cut up pieces of toilet roll holder and wrap the tape around to store.

Step 4. When you can stop making this addictive stuff I would love to see what you came up with and see it on your layout! πŸ™‚

005-001

And this is what I came up with πŸ™‚ I masked the background with a Hexie mask, embossed some pp with a folder and sanded it back, added my photos, made the banner using washi.Β  Using strips of the washi I made, (the black grunge and the blue cogs), I put them at the bottom and top of the photos and made the flowers.

003-001

A close up of the flowers I made by punching a circle of card-stock and the adding the tape ruffled around the circle and securing with a brad. πŸ™‚ Really easy to make as your tape is already tacky and you don’t have to worry about messy glue. πŸ™‚

Well, I hope you feel inspired to have a go at my challenge and have some creative fun!

“One Little Word!”

I have decided in ‘2013’ to join an online class with “Ali Edwards” called ‘One Little Word’

You may have seen it on the net or on her blog at aliedwards.com. I am a member at Big Picture Classes and I have registered over there! πŸ™‚ It is a year-long class and you get can work at your own pace! πŸ™‚ You can pop on over to Ali’s blog and get an idea of what it is all about and see some of her previous yrs challenges!!

As you know I have had a very bigΒ  2012 with lots of family things going on and changes which I am still dealing with! πŸ™‚ All year things have seem complicated and hard and I am really over it!! I haven’t had nearly enough time to do the things that I enjoy doing like my garden, learning new things and of course my scrap booking, or just being able to read a book! I know lots of you are in this situation too and I am not complaining, just sick of things the way they are! I haven’t been able to keep up with my Project Life like I had intended and I decided not to do a December Daily Challenge this year with so much going on! I am not going to complicate my life by taking on too much and making it harder for myself! I have already started this process with a de-cluttering of our home and it feels soo good! I think this is where it all started from! πŸ™‚

Of course I am going to have challenges and one of those is going to be getting back into the workforce, but I have a plan and that is one thing that may make it easier for me. πŸ™‚ I think with everything that has been going on I am just tired and need things to be easier and less complicated. πŸ™‚ “I suppose like everyone else!”

So with this in mind and the changes I am making and want to continue to make in ‘2013’ my word for this challenge is “SIMPLIFY” –

I will be using this word in my daily life and my decisions throughout the yr to help make my year better brighter and of course “SIMPLER” – which means to make less complex or complicated, make plainer or easier. I feel this is a more manageable challenge for me to be able to keep scrapping and see the end result at the end of 2013. πŸ™‚

“My Scrap Room!”

I was playing around with the Hipstamatic App on my I phone and took a few pics of my scrap space when I shifted it! I used Sarah’s Flower Challenge to create this layout!

This was fun to make using some retired flocked paper from SU and making some muslin flowers! I am happy with the colors and the other bits I have added! πŸ™‚
