“A Fresh Start”

Hi Girls,

Just letting you know I am moving my blog to http://www.ourdailylifecaptured.wordpress.com

It’s not the end, its like a new beginning in my scraping journey πŸ™‚

I have loved this blog and keeping you up to date with things, but I feel I need a fresh start with my Project Life. I am still using WordPress so not much is changing, just a new look and feel πŸ™‚ I hope you will hop on over and have a peek and leave me some love πŸ™‚ Β  It has been wonderful here and will continue over there πŸ™‚

I want to focus on my PL scrapping with the spare time I have.

It is a work in progress, so bear with me while I get it up and running πŸ™‚

Project Life – Week 1

After getting a bit of homework done yesterday, I decided I needed a break and got out some bits and pieces and created my first layout of my new way to scrapbook πŸ™‚

It didn’t take me long to print my photos, gather some papers and embellies and get it done. I also then used the main photo to start the story, and use as my album title page. As not a lot happened last week, and I was only thinking about doing this, I scraped my new scrap space πŸ™‚

PL 1The title page I alsoΒ  used for Amy’s Sept challenge over @ Home and Scrapped πŸ™‚Β  I printed some 3×4 photos on the pocket page so I could do some journaling πŸ™‚

I misted the background, layered some washi tape, masked a doily from Heidi Swapp, added a few butterflies and my title πŸ™‚ I think by creating a layout too if I can I can still do the odd challenge and get messy! I showed JJ last night and he loved the new way and said “it is great to see what we did over the week, other than just the ‘celebrations’ etc!”

I am using my printer to print the smaller 3×4 photos but as I have heaps of other photos I want to scrap this way I have found a 3×4 punch from a lovely shop on FB πŸ™‚ Will make it that much quicker for me πŸ™‚

I am still on ‘L’ plates but as I go I think I will improve πŸ™‚ I am very determined to do this πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

“Taking Another Look @ Project Life!”

images

The last time I attempted this last year, I was trying to do Project 365 (a photo a day) as well and I got lost and disgruntled with not being able to keep up 😦 Since then I have gone back to scraping layouts which is my first love, but with so much study atm and work, fitting my ‘therapy’ in is getting harder and harder.

So, I have taken another look @ Project Life, and how I can succeed this time around and continue. I found a couple of great groups on Facebook I have joined who are very encouraging and helpful and I have been doing a bit of research on Google to get some ideas as well πŸ™‚

This is a great place to start if you are like me http://sweetrosestudio.com/project-life-for-beginners

For lots of info about this way of scrap booking visit the founder http://www.beckyhiggins.com/

I love taking photos and I either use my Iphone which I have with me all the time and my Nikon camera πŸ™‚ I have the Project 365 app on my phone and I can take notes as I go so I have info when I go to do my pages πŸ™‚

I realize now, I don’t have to scrap every photo that I take but make a story of each week of our life!! I am going to use the 4×6 Pocket Pages from Kaszazz to start with and do one layout a week of the main photo, if time permits! This way I can use up more of my stash and be creative πŸ™‚ The other photos I will print with my Selphy and journal, adding a bit of embellishment. The idea is to get it done quick πŸ™‚

This is how I attempted it last time doing it in layout from if you are interested https://myscrapnaddiction.wordpress.com/?s=project+life

Also Pinterest is great inspiration – http://pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=project%20life

I am hoping to continue doing this in the long-term, I just need to grasp it and go with it πŸ™‚ I know it is an odd time to start but like they say, “start when it is right for you” πŸ™‚ Once I get going and get the hang of it I may go back and do some previous months of this yr also πŸ™‚ I am starting with the first week of September 1/9 so I can get the hang of it πŸ™‚

You can buy the kit which is already to go, but I am using my stash and doing my own thing πŸ™‚ I just Googled it and you get heaps ofΒ  information and layout ideas πŸ™‚

9fc11eb6695bc4d26511b928e814cc36This is a page from http://pinterest.com/scrapwithchris/project-life-inspiration/ board.Β  Just to give you an idea of how it works! You can do as much or as little as you want πŸ™‚Β  I think for me, getting some photos into an album, without too much stress is the way to go! I would rather get this done weekly than nothing at all πŸ™‚

I hope maybe I have inspired you to give it a go too πŸ™‚

“Why Do I……”

Exactly, why do I, what is wrong with me?Β  lol!!Β  I know I am nuts, but as I kept hitting my chair on my bed in my room, I got a bit fed up, swore and moved out!!!Β  I know I know……..Β I am never happy no matter what I do to have an appropriated scrap space just for me……

I have been a bit unwell this week and maybe I was just fed up, when I got the bug to put my scrap room back into the lounge πŸ™‚ After a lot of plotting and planning I finally decided to go down the lounge window again and make the most of that space. I decided to leave my big corner table in my room, as I did not want to move it, plus I can use it to study in there with my computer πŸ™‚

I think I am happy with it now but who knows…….

001I used my smaller table with my Colcraft storage on it with all my inks, paints, Dylusions, pens, markers etc and my smaller table next to it so I can play there with paints and things or use my Big Shot. In the drawer of the white desk I have my long Tim Holtz dies and others that wont go into DVD cases, plus emboss folders πŸ™‚ Next I have all my stamps and dies in the DVD cases then my washi tape holder with my 6×6 pp’s and some punches in the wire basket πŸ™‚

002This gives you a better look at my storage and I have some shelving on the end of the desk too πŸ™‚ I have a bargain wire basket on the top for smaller punches.

004This is the opposite side of the room where I have always had this big book-case which holds albums, magazines, my boxes of embellishments, chipboard, flowers etc.Β  The other small book-case I use for paints, scrap papers, extra bits and pieces, sewing bits and bobs, punches etc. On top is my other Colcraft Storage with card stock, thickers, my Basic Grey chipboard small masks and stencils and in the drawers are also embellies πŸ™‚

I hope you like my little tour and maybe you picked up a couple of ideas for your space πŸ™‚

“Hiding Out!!”

This week I have been hiding out, lol!! In my scrap-room of course! Finally a bit of time to play πŸ™‚ With things being so hectic and studying again I decided to have a break and hide and play!

I have managed a layout last night and I have been making some butterflies to decorate my scrap room wall πŸ™‚ As I am not working now tmorrow night, I am going to have another session and see what I come up with after I get a bit more home work done πŸ™‚ I have caught up online with a few of the girls at Home and Scrapped and have found another challenge I would like to do :

007

This layout I can finally share with you as I joined in the August Scrap whisper and now it has finished, and we have revealed our layouts. I enjoyed putting this one together, as I was third in line to get the whisper and I wanted to scrap about mum’s things that she used to collect and enjoy! This photo I took when we packing up the house to show how long mum and dad had been there and to remember πŸ™‚

006This one I did last night catching up with a few of the girls in the forum. It is Heather’s Step By Step page for the August CC πŸ™‚ A coupe of pics of our pups in the car when we take them up to get their nails trimmed πŸ™‚

I decided to make something pretty for my scrap room and came up with the idea of using my Big Shot and dies to make some layered butterflies πŸ™‚

018I used four sizes of my dies and glued them on top of one another. When dry I bent their wings to give some dimension then added some Dimensional Magic down the middle of their bodies and sprinkled some SU Glass glitter. I then used some beading wires to create their antenna. Thank you Sheryn for the idea πŸ™‚

019Here you can see them a bit clearer and how I put them together. I am looking forward to putting them up tmorrow after the Dimensional Magic completely dries πŸ™‚ I just used up some of my thicker pattern papers to make them form my stash πŸ™‚

Stay tuned for hopefully some more layouts in the coming days πŸ˜‰

“Retail Therapy”

Hi everyone,

Sorry for absence, I do miss you all πŸ™‚Β  Been really busy with work and just signed up to do my Disability Cert IV to get more work. It goes for 6 months so will keep me busy! I am cramming in a bit of scraping here and there and spent the weekend with my Sis and family. We took the kids to Melbourne for the day on Saturday and it was a great day!! It is so busy and the sights are so funny sometimes and amusing πŸ™‚

IMG_2959This one is of Ali and I on the tram going up Bourke Street to the mall πŸ™‚ Yes that is my nephew hiding behind us !

IMG_2962Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β  The tourists can get a horse and cart ride to see the sights. I preferred to just take a photo!

We had a great day and boy we walked some miles around the Victoria Market and the ‘retail therapy’ was just what we needed πŸ™‚ Great place to visit but give me the country any day lol!!

“Oh Scrappy Day!”

That is what I did today. I locked my self in my scrap room and spent the day playing with some new Kaszazz stamps and things πŸ™‚ Well I did come out for food and drink etc, but there was no housework done lol!Β  Just a day for me πŸ™‚

I managed to get these four layouts done, I didn’t use a sketch or a challenge, they just came to me by plonking things down, not thinking about it and getting them done πŸ™‚

002For “Happy Little Life” I used some paint on the background and added some hearts using a mask and texture paste. I cut a heart border from some pp and added some washi tape and a few word stickers πŸ™‚

005This one is of “Mums Iris” that she always had in the garden.Β  I used the SU Hexagon Punch and some pp to male the background. I am trying to use up some of that stash of mine πŸ™‚

008A couple of photos from our girls day out Melbourne trip last year πŸ™‚ I used a die cut for the background, a bit of texture paste, fabric tape and a lovely tag that Heather Waldron made me with a butterfly πŸ™‚

003A couple of photos of Sam that I had when he was having fun in the garden in the Summer!Β  I took these from the front porch looking down at him, for a different angle πŸ™‚ Just for a different border I punched a few cats from my fave Basic Grey “Max and Whiskers” pp. To soften it I used a bit of texture paste on my Chevron background stamp πŸ™‚

I had a great day and achieved quite a bit. After such a busy month filling in at work it will be nice this week to have a little more time up my sleeve and hope to play a bit more πŸ™‚

“So Little time!”

That is how I feel at the moment! Not enough hours in the day!!

Today my bestie Mary Jo and I booked in to scrap for the day together. I had the day off and Mary is on holidays. We had a great time, chatting, scrapping the afternoon away πŸ™‚ I managed two layouts and clever Mary made some gorgeous cards πŸ™‚

009This one was fun to do of the boys ‘playing games’ as they do πŸ™‚ I used some Dyluisons ink sprayed onto the white card stock, added some Kaszazz Cogs stamped in Stormy Sky Distress ink and added a banner with some twine and a bit of washi tape, with thickers title.

012Both these layouts came together pretty quick for me for a change. I decided to place and stick and just get it done πŸ™‚Β  This one I used an older photo of Cody on the left and one of this yr on the right of him and Willo πŸ™‚ I used a bit of Dyluisons inks sprayed on the Kraft background with the Kaszazz Chevron Background stamp and I used some texture paste over a chicken wire mask. I added a few embellies, some tape and twine to finish πŸ™‚

It was a great afternoon, with no housework involved πŸ™‚

“Moving On!”

This week my oldest son Cody has been packing up the last 11 years of his life living with me and JJ here in Martin Street. He has decided it is time to leave the ‘nest’ and get out into the big wide world beyond home. I am a bit mixed about this as it will be odd not having him around, but I am sure his little brother will keep me amused πŸ™‚

He is moving in Monday with the best mate, who he has been friends right through Secondary school πŸ™‚Β Β  I know he is ready, and I feel I am now too for him to take this next step and get closer to his career in the Vic Police Force. I am so proud of him πŸ™‚

IMG_2618

I took this photo unknown to them last weekend when we visited mum. They have been so close growing up and I know they will miss one another. Although with Cody at work a fair bit of the time and they play games on-line together not much will prob change for them πŸ™‚ I will miss the loud laughter that comes from their bedroom when they are playing games or watching The Umbilical Bros on their tv lol!! πŸ™‚

Cody went up this morning and finalized his bed delivery for Monday and tmorrow we are going to Geelong so he can get some things he needs like linen etc πŸ™‚ Oh yep and some curtains for my new room too as JJ and I are doing a swap πŸ™‚

I am busy with work now also and don’t see as much of him as I used to but our nightly chats when I get home from work will be what I miss the most 😦

I am very thankful for my two wonderful boys, and I promised Cody I wouldn’t text him too much and he is going to come around for dinner during the week when he can and catch up πŸ™‚Β  We will see lol!

“Life Update”

Hi everyone,

Not much happening with me on the scrap-book front atm, but enjoying my new job and learning heaps πŸ™‚

IMG_2587

I just wanted to share with you the gorgeous sunrise I see every morning when I am on an early shift. I live in a lovely part of the world and I never tire of this view on my way to work πŸ™‚

I am loving my new role and it is great learning on the job skills I have read about in class. I am picking things up pretty quick and always something different to do πŸ™‚

I go back to school on the 15/7, then work placement and I will have my qualification πŸ™‚ It has been a great course and I am so glad I decided to go down this path and where it has led me πŸ™‚

I haven’t got as much time as I had to scrap and do things, but it is great feeling useful once again. I am doing a little scraping, but I have also started a crocheted blanket for my bed. It is just squares of double crochet, but enough for my brain lol!!

IMG_2619

Two colours so I don’t get bored and will prob do a different coloured edge.It is going to take me awhile but will amuse me on night shift some nights πŸ™‚ It is 8 ply acrylic as I am allergic to wool, but will still be lovely and warm πŸ™‚Β The rows are 30 chain but 19 rows as I miscounted hehe! Might get a bit more adventurous with a pattern next time πŸ™‚ I crocheted a shell pattern throw for the lounge awhile ago which was pretty easy but too bulky to take to work πŸ™‚

Better get my shoes on if I am going for a walk, and hope you all have a great week πŸ™‚
