“Little Dirt Monsters!”

This is my design team layout for September’s “Ebony and Ivory Challenge’ at http://www.challengeheaven.ning.com      This month the Ebony and Ivory colors  to play with are white or a black background with orange and green.  The criteria is to have three circles on your layout!!! When Michelle gave me this challenge to create a sample layout for I though what am I going to do! These colors were a little out of my ‘comfort zone!’ Which of course is the idea!

So I took a little trip through my pattern papers and found a kit that I had purchased from Lisa Kamphius, that just suited this great photo of Jayden and his mate Adam way back in kinder together!!! I love the pattern papers from the “Jillibean Monster Stew Collection” and they were perfect to scrap these two little monsters! lol!!

I misted a bit on the white card-stock as the paper was very bright and busy. I cut out some of the pattern paper elements to use on my page! I am really pleased with the way it came up! I hope you will pop over and have a go at my challenge and check out out other DT’s great challenges as well this month and be in the running for a great prize from

“Recipe Album Update!”

I have been doing a bit more work on my recipe album this afternoon!  I managed to get the dividers done and make some tabs for them to make it easier to find the sections! I have made ten and a few have sub categories!

I used my pattern papers and cut them to size and mounted them on some white card then put inside plastic pockets to protect them! I used some letter stickers and attached to the outside of the pockets with the name of the section and any sub-titles I wanted on them!! I didn’t attach to the papers in case later on I want to add or subtract categories from my album!

I then made some tabs by punching some scallops from the gingham paper, then some circles from white card-stock, inking them on edges and stamping my names on them!! I think they have come up ok and didn’t cost me much to make!

This is my album closed and you can see how the tabs sit and are easily accessible!

The first divider with main heading and sub-titles!

                                           Pastry/Pies

                                                Main dishes!

I didn’t want to bore you too much with heaps of photos and you can get the idea of the way I have divided my album and made the tabs! Now my next job is to get some recipes in there!!

“Just A Few Bits!”

Just thought I would share a photo of the ‘few’ bits i bought yesterday at Paperific!

I don’t know if it was the lack of stalls compared to last year, or that  there didn’t seem to be much new stuff to buy that I didn’t go mad!!!! Not that the bank balance would have liked that much lol!!!

Anyway Mary Jo and I filled in 4 hours together wandering around and I think she managed a few goodies too! I caught up with Nicole and Andrew from Twiddleybitz and the lovely owners of Scrap Matts!!!

I came home with some Kraft card-stock a few Twiddleys of course, some pens to color chipboard, some more tape which u always need, a little pack of alpha stamps and two great Sissix Bigz Flower dies which I got for 1/2 price! Bargain!!!! I even got a freebie pack of embellies and discount of next yrs entry! All in all very happy with my bits!

“Nan’s Favourites!”

This gorgeous collection of pattern papers, chippy, stamps and journal cards is from Kaisercrafts Nan’s Favorites Collection! I am using them to put my Heirloom Recipe binder together!

I just love the retro/vintage  feel of them!!!  I have decided to go a different way with my album and have chosen a different binder to use. I am going to use the pp with plastic dividers to make my menu dividers!! I will make my own tabs for the section like desserts, Mains etc!

I will post a pic over weekend of what have created so far! i cant wait to get my recipes sorted and have all my recipes together!!!

“Bit Of Scrap’n!”

I had a bit of the scraping bug over the weekend and with the Cyber Crop on over http://www.challengeheaven.ning.com  it was nice to get some pages under the belt! lol!

Just as well I did have a go at them as I now have a busy week with taking mum to have her tests done, and everything else on my plate at the moment! 🙂

The theme was Animal Crackers and I had no trouble finding some of our furry friend photos to scrap!!

This layout of Cody getting some “Puppy Kisses’ from Willo I created for Simone’s challenge to use two or more pics and a transparency!  I recycled some packaging, attached it to my layout with brads and stamped on it with Staz on Ink!!

This gorgeous photo of Jayden having his “First Cuddle” with Willo I made for Becci’s numbers challenge! I had to use 1 photo, 2 animal embellishments, 3 trims and 4 pattern papers!  This cute paper collection I bought from Creative Memories and used it in Cody’s layout! also!

I had fun creating this one from Heather’s sketch! Got enough pics on it of my lovely puss who I miss still very much!  Just used some scraps from the stash for this one!

It’s not too late to join in if you want to have ago at the challenges! They need to be uploaded to the gallery by midnight this Thursday the 15/8.

“Favourite Recipe Swap!”

Hi to all you scrapbookers, cooks, mums, and those of us who just like to collect recipes!!  Don’t you just love all your Favorite Recipes! They comfort and impress, and never let you down!  Well one thing I love as much as my faves is trying out new ones!  So here is my idea for a Swap!

Requirements:

1.  Make nine 4×6 recipe index cards, with your favorite all time recipe on them! I will do it Round Robin style of swap so you will receive 9 different recipe cards back!

2. Please use store-bought index cards or you may cut your own from cardstock! A great way to use up some of those scraps!!

3. Stamping and inking of edges is not required but would be fabulous! You may use pattern paper if you desire! Please also add just one embellishment to your cards either store-bought or handmade!!!

4.  Digital or typed recipe cards are fine, but it would be lovely to have them in your own legible handwriting! A list of Ingredients and then the Method would be great!

5.  You may select your own category, (eg Mains, Deserts, Cakes etc!) Make the cards that you are proud of to swap and you would love to receive from other swappers’

6. Can you please put your name on the back of them so we know who they are from and tell us where you got your recipe from(eg, grandmother, magazine, book website etc!!)

Mailing Instructions!

1. Seal your cards in a zip lock bag to protect them from the weather and put your name and address in with them in case they get separated from the envelope!

2.  Post in an A5 Envelope with return envelope and stamps to cover cost home! Shouldn’t be any more than $1.20 both ways!

3. After I have received all the cards I will swap them and you will receive 9 recipe cards to add to your collection or add to your binders/books as I will be!

4. Overseas swappers are most welcome to join in as long as you realise you are paying  the postage! 🙂

SIGN UP HERE BY LEAVING ME A COMMENT  HERE OR EMAILING ME AT stampnaddict@bigpond.com UNTIL FRIDAY SEPTEMBER THE 9TH, THEN HAVE YOUR RECIPE CARDS MADE AND SENT TO ME BY FRIDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER SO I CAN SWAP THEM ALL AND RETURN THEM TO YOU!!!

I WILL KEEP AN UPDATED LIST OF SWAPPERS IN THE SIDE BAR AND IF I HAVE RECEIVED THEM ETC!!!

If you have any problems or not sure of the swapping process please let me know and we can work it out so the swap runs smoothly and I know what is happening with your cards etc!!!

” Recipe Junkie!’

If you didn’t know I am a bit of a Recipe Junkie!  I love collecting recipes to ‘one day” try out and make my own! lol! Not that I get a lot of time to cook, but with the boys older and enjoying making food “from scratch” as they say, I have developed a bit more of an interest to cook and bake! I think school has been a big help with the boys having an interest in cooking which has to be a good thing! With JJ at home he still loves his ‘home school” lesson in the kitchen! It is after a “life skill” and not a burden to know how to do! I think my boys will be able to cook for themselves and do a bit more than ‘boil water!’ lol!

With this interest looming again, i decided to brush the cobwebs off a Recipe Binder I Decoupaged quite awhile ago and never really got back to finishing it!! It was one of those craft series binders that I never kept buying, so I “Altered” it!! I just need to put a title on the cover!!

                                                  “Front cover”

                                   “Back  Cover”

                                         “Open with pockets and pages”

I think it looks cool with the sort of Vintage feel with the paper and  I will put a chippy title on shortly! I was going to use some A4 refills and dividers from JJ’s school stash but the binder was smaller and they wouldn’t fit!  I had 5 packets of 8 1/2 x 11 refills that I hadn’t used and they worked perfect!  Now to get to and start getting my recipes into the one place!!! It will be great to one day hand it down to the boys!!!!

“A Few More Smashed Pages!”

This page on the left has my Immunization card in it and some of my old Primary School reports that mum had kept for me all these yrs!! It was so good to look back and see how I was going as young student!!!

I added a pic of my typewriter and wrote a bit about it also!

This is the page I made for Cody! I added a couple of local paper articles, coins from the year he was born, his Yr 6 Graduation badge and a few other things I had kept!!

As you can see my Smash Book/Junque journal is slowly growing and will be great to keep adding to and looking back on!! I have some pics of Myself and sis when we were younger to add to it plus other photos that aren’t really scrap worthy for pages but will be added interest for my book!!!

“A Smashing Good Time!!”

In between the wonderful ‘house work’ this morning,I have started adding stuff to my Smash book and thought I would share what I have done so far!!!!

This is the inside cover and first page! I just smashed in a couple of photos, a definition, my “Pink Visa” which I can’t live without (no its inactive) and a few other bits!!!!

This page is somewhere in the middle and I have made it JJ’s page! Just stuff I have kept from when he was a school and things he likes!!! The black mesh is from an old school back pack! lol!  I  will make one for Cody as well! Adding the stuff is so much fun and ‘my therapy!” lol!!!

I have also included some special cards and letters from loved ones that are no longer with us!! I have added lots of tags and pockets for journaling on etc!

I hope I am inspiring some of you out there to get all that memorabilia and empherea out of those boxes and out where you can relive the memories and enjoy it!!!!

“What A Smash!”

I finished my Smash book cover today and thought I would share!

After covering it with pattern paper, I then added my Twinchies some faux pearls a couple of roses and my scissor embellies and title!! Things I like and love on the cover!!! I used my crop-o-dile to punch the holes and add the jumbo eyelets!

I have punched all the holes for binding my book and am just adding some envelopes and tags for extra stuff! Can’t wait to start the ‘smashing bit!’ lol
