“December Daily Challenge!”

I thought I would share this with you!  I haven’t created a December Daily Journal before and thought I might take up the challenge over at http://challengeheaven.ning.com with Bek.  It is a Xmas journal that you document each day of December, you can then keep it as a piece of your family history or it would make a great gift for grand parents!!

If you go over to Ali Edwards blog here

http://aliedwards.com/2009/12/december-daily-compilation.html

you will find all the info and ideas on her blog!

Bek is going to be putting up a daily sketch and a journal prompt for the 31 days of December, to help give you ideas and get the Xmas mojo going! lol!!

I wasn’t sure about taking part  as with no little kids around now Xmas is not the same and I don’t have the same busy preparation that there used to be with shopping for presents, school functions etc!! There are different things we do now with the kids being older and things have changed but it is still a lovely time of the year for our family!!  I think I will prob include some photos of past years to tell our Xmas story!!

At the moment I am getting together all my bits and pieces together to put my journal together and I think an 8×8 size will be big enough!! I am going to cut out my 8×8 pp or cs and have journaling spots etc already on them to do each day!!!I want to do it like my smash journal and be able to add different elements like Xmas cards and things to it!! It will be great to use up some scraps and stash!!! As you know I am such a Camera-aholic lol, I have taken two photos already for my first pages!

So stay tuned to see my 31 days of Xmas coming together!! Go over and jump on board and have a go with us!!

I went through my stash tonight and found all my Xmas Theme stuff for making my journal! I am a traditional green, red and white girl!!  I have found some empherea to use, embellies etc for my 31 days! It will be great to use up some stash! lol!!

My DT challenge this month is to create a layout in a size other than 12×12 and use the word Doll/s in your title!  A little challenge to get you out of your comfort zone!! I scrap different sizes all the time and make mini albums to keep my creativity going!! There is a great prize from Scrapbook Boutique to win if you complete my challenge, upload to the gallery and let me know in the discussion you have joined in! Too easy!!

This is an 81/2 x 11″ layout I created of my cousin, sister and I when we were little and living in Sale!! We dressed up in some dress up clothes of our Aunties and Alison looked like a little doll!!! so the title of my layout was “Dress Up Dolls”  This memory has stayed with me as it was just one of those fun childhood memories I have never forgotten!!

I hope you will come over to Challenge Heaven and have a go at out great Challenges this month and also have a go at our “December Daily Challenge” also that has some great prizes up for grabs also!!

“Funky Wreath Clock!”

I have been working on one of my OTP projects this weekend that I bought from Kaiser!! It is called a Funky Wreath and I made mine into a clock by adding a backing and clock mechanism! You can also use them as a Xmas decoration, a door wreath and I have seen them with a mirror behind them!  I used there Prairie pp for this as I loved the choc and brown and the mix of patterns!!I made some flowers with a punch and added a few buttons!!

Sprung! got caught trying to hide all their purchases! lol! The Kaiser girls were wonderful!!

Going through our goody bags when we got home! What fun!!! We bought a few odds and ends! I bought a couple of OTP projects i might work on this weekend! I will have to have another scrap day after Xmas with Ali so she can have a play too!!!

“Finding Inspiration!”

I am not sure if I have asked you this before!!

Where do you find Inspiration to create scrapbook layouts!! I find it everywhere!!

I use my photos and take inspiration from the event or the colors, I am a member of a few wonderful “Ning Challenge online groups, ( The Boxx, Challenge Heaven and Home and Scrapped!!)  I take inspiration also from my daily life, scrap-lift the creations of other talented scraper’s, have fun trying new techniques and I love blog hoping and using quotes and music lyrics to get the mojo going!!

The thing I do the almost every month is buy myself a couple of Scrap-booking magazines and they are a wealth of knowledge and talent!!  That is a few per year and as I don’t have a lot of space to store them I take an afternoon and go through them all around about this time of the year!!  I tear out all the layouts, tips, techniques and off the page projects that have really jumped out and me and I have three folders which I cut and paste them into!! Yep, just like my Great grandmother used to do!! I still have mine that she made me!!

I have one folder for Double Page Layouts, sketches and off The page projects, one for single layouts and one for cards and tips and techniques I want to try!! they are an invaluable resource and I do have a couple of them now but they are used all the time!

I flick through them when the mojo is not going as planned and I always find something to inspire me!!  Yesterday I had my cutting and pasting day of this years mags and now they are all neatly filed where I can find them and not have to store all those mags!! 🙂

As you can see I do make a ‘little mess’ lol!  this is some of the stuff I tear out and trim up and past in my books!! I think it is ‘therapeutic also!!

When my printer was working I printed out a lot of Page Maps from their site and store them here too!! I will print some more when I invest in a new printer!!

This is the boy theme section and I put all the layouts and things I like in here!! As I scrap a lot of boy/male pages I am always on the look out for new designs and different embellishments to use on my pages!!

It is nice to have a good selection of girly themed layouts too and they are a great reference!  I love going into my ‘mini album’ and ‘off the page’ sections for some great ideas also!!

I would love to hear your ideas for inspiration and what helps you! You may even like to keep a bit of an “Inspiration File!” too!!

A Couple Of Challenges!

This is the great 12×12 sketch by Julie Winks over at The Boxx I used to create my double 8×8 layout below of our Cats and Dogs!!  I used a bit of distressing and stitching on it as well!!

My next 8×8 layout I created for the #20 Scrapers Challenge at The Boxx!  It was a recipe challenge to use 1 photo, 1 or more card-stock, stitching, 3 pp, punching and either a bit of journaling or a quote!!

I used these retired Stampin’ Up! papers to create a quilted look with some machine stitching!  I punched the borders and added a couple of tags with some journaling about “My Play-station!’ Who needs video games ! lol!!

“One Day!’

That is what JJ said to me a couple of weeks ago when we took him over to a car show!! He is Mustang mad and he said “one day mum I will have one of these!” and no doubt he will! He is a walking encyclopedia of cars and real rev head!!

It was a fun layout to do and also Prompt 4 of the Pretty Paper Party to use stripes and dots on a layout!!!

“Size Doesn’t Matter!”

Mmmmmm what is she up to now?  As I mentioned I am pretty time poor at the moment and feeling a bit stretched so I am downsizing my layouts to 8×8 for a while!!  I don’t want to stop scraping and I thought doing some 8×8 layouts might be a fun change! They are still square unlike the 81/2 x 11 layouts that I have scraped and still having the square shape appeals but not so much space to fill!  I think there will be more focus on my photos!!

I can still use my 12×12 sketches and just adjust them to scrap 8×8! I didn’t have a problem changing the 81/2 x 11 to suit so, I think I will get a lot more photos scraped, or that’s what I am hoping lol!!! It might take me a few trys to adjust my thinking with not so much space, but I think I will cope! lol!!

It doesn’t matter what size layouts you scrap, there is not right or wrong and you do what you are comfortable with!! Have a go and see what you think!!

This one I created using mostly Stampin’ Up! I love the new DSP Beau Chateau, and my Pennant Banner Punch.  Just  a couple of pics of Willo helping me blog! lol!! She is my girl!!!

A close up of the flower I made using the Triple Doiley punch and a couple of rolled roses I made from the pp!!

This one om Mum and Aunty Helen is a bit of Stampin’ Up! and Kaiser!! I am really having fun with this size!! These two layouts I completed in about 3/4 hour while I was cooking dinner!!

I had these couple of extra photos of the boys and mum and I and wanted to add them! I made another page and now it its a double layout!  I just trimmed down the 4×6 photos and added a bit of embellishment to balance the layout! I used some retired Stampin’ Up! DSP and the Tea at Elsie Kaiser stamps!
