Hi Everyone!
Here you will find some Step- by- Step tutorials that I do now and again, so you wont have to search my whole blog to find them! Enjoy and TFL!
“TWINCHIES!’
As you know I love trying out new ideas and techniques. I thought I would just let you know what they are and how to make them!
What exactly are they? Well, they are literally a one-inch or two-inch square piece of art. You can swap them or collect them. You can use them on your cards, ATCs, scrapbook pages, and altered art. You can make jewelry, magnets, bookmarks, or anything else you can think of out of them . They are also a great way to use up your scraps!
How do you make them? – You make them by cutting or punching your cardstock, chipboard, cereal boxes etc to 1″ or 2′ squares and then you decorate them like tiny miniature art works! like ATC’s but on a smaller scale!
You can use pp, vellum, stamping, inking, images, you name it you can use it to decorate them and make them your own!
They are very addictive like ATC’s to me and you can use them on scrapbook pages, cards. ATC’s, as gift tags, borders, titles and accents! There are endless ideas out there for them!
“GRUNGE FLOWERS!”
Supplies Needed - A scallop punch, dies or just make some circles if you don’t have punches, some ink, a paper piecer, brads, misting bottle and water, Stickles are opptional!
Step 1 - Punch six of the scallops from your pp, sheet music, book pages cs etc!
Step 2 - Spray with water lightly so they are mosit! If you haven’t a spray bottle just pop them in and out of a container with water!
Step 3 – Squish in your fingers to crumple them!
Step 4 – Open them up and if desired ink around the edges of scallops to give them some definition!
Step 5 – Layer them together on top of one another!
Step 6 - Using a paper piecer or something sharp, carefully put a hole in the centre through all the layers! At this step if they are a bit dry you could glue the layers instead!
Step 7 - Using a brad or a fastener of some sort, push thorough the middle and secure at back!
Step 8 - Crumple each layer with your fingers into the centre!
This is how your little flower will look now!
Step 9 – Using your fingers or a tool, gently pull the flower apart to separate the petals! Be a bit gentle as not to tear them! You could open them a little more and add some gems or buttons for their centres!
Step 10 - Ta-dahh, your own finished Distressed Grunge Flower! You can now put some Stickles on the edges of petals if desired and set them aside to dry!
I hope you could follow my tutorial and you have fun like I have,
making a few for my layouts and cards! I used double-sided pp, book and music pages and cardstock scraps from my stash!!!!
” MY VINTAGE RUFFLED FLOWERS!”
They are fun and easy to make and I couldn’t help myself! lol!
Here goes and I hope you can follow it!!!
Supplies you will need to make these beauties are: some polyester/synthetic fabric, tea light candle and some scissors. If you prefer you can cut out a few diff size circle templates to cut around. Additional Supplies – Needle and Thread, beads, buttons, bling!
STEP 1 – Cut out different size circles from your material using templates or freehand as I have done! The more size circles, the more layers and the better the flower!
STEP 2 – Colour your flowers if desired with Glimmermists, inks etc! I bought white fabric to colour as I wanted to match my work! you can buy this material in an array of colours!
STEP 3 – Use your scissors to cut slits around the circle. this will make them look frillier. you dont have to if you dont want. I think the look lovely with the ruffles! (sorry about blurred pic, trying to demo and take pics! lol!)
STEP 4 – Using your tea light candle carefully hold the edges of the fabric over the flame with tweezers so you don’t burn yourself! You don’t need to touch the fabric with the flame as the heat will melt and curl the edges. Turn the circle to get all the edges melted! Continue doing this with all your different size circles! This makes your flower petals!!!
STEP 6 – This is how they will look after melting the edges! Cool Hey! Layer them largest to smallest and either sew in the middle or glue together! Attach some pearls, bling or buttons for centres and your done!
Ta-dah! lovely “Handmade Vintage Ruffled Flowers” I have made to use on my projects!
Hope you have enjoyed the tutorial and I have inspired you to have a go at making them!!! TFL
